1. Overview
JoinLinks, Inc. (“JoinLinks,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the JoinLinks mobile apps, website, and APIs that enable people to discover in-person experiences, RSVP to events, chat with friends, and access premium features. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Services. It applies to all users, visitors, and organizers regardless of device or platform. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not access the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide
- Account identifiers such as name, username, pronouns, and contact details (email and phone number).
- Optional private demographic details such as your exact date of birth, gender, and race or ethnicity, plus your choices about recommendation use, public age display, and reviewer age eligibility.
- Authentication data used for verification (one-time codes, phone verification, social sign-in identifiers).
- Profile content, photos, interests, bios, friend relationships, and community memberships.
- Event-related data such as RSVP responses, guest lists, poll votes, chat messages, comments, reactions, QR check-ins, and shared media.
- Payment details handled by app stores or integrated processors (tokenized IDs, purchase history).
- Support communications, survey responses, beta feedback, and developer submissions.
Information collected automatically
- Device data such as hardware model, OS version, mobile carrier, browser type, language, and time zone.
- Usage data including log files, clicks, page views, feature engagement, crash reports, diagnostic data, referral URLs, in-app navigation, and performance metrics.
- Approximate or precise location (when enabled) to surface nearby events, map views, and safety features.
- Notification tokens, session identifiers, and security telemetry used to detect fraud or abuse.
Information from third parties
- Social sign-in providers (Apple, Google, Facebook) supply identifiers and profile basics you approve.
- Contact discovery and friend matching may use your address book (with your permission) to locate existing JoinLinks users.
- Payment processors, app stores, and RevenueCat share transaction confirmations and subscription status (not full card numbers).
- Analytics, security, and communications vendors (Firebase, Google Analytics, Twilio, AWS, Sentry) provide insight into app performance and message delivery.
3. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage accounts, profiles, authentication sessions, and device associations.
- Provide core functionality such as event browsing, invitations, chat, polls, communities, QR codes, and link analytics.
- Process payments, subscriptions, promo codes, refunds, and fraud prevention workflows.
- Send transactional and informational emails, SMS, push notifications, and in-app alerts regarding activity and updates, including reminders and messages from the hosts of events you join and the communities you belong to.
- Personalize recommendations, surfaces, and marketing content based on your activity and preferences.
- Monitor platform health, debug errors, and analyze usage to improve performance.
- Enforce our Terms of Service, investigate violations, and protect user safety.
- Comply with legal obligations, regulatory requirements, and law-enforcement requests.
4. Optional Demographics & Age Choices
Providing your date of birth, gender, and race or ethnicity is optional. We use an exact date of birth to confirm minimum-age eligibility and calculate age. If you separately enable recommendation use, the optional details you provide may also help JoinLinks improve your recommendations. Declining or clearing these details does not prevent you from using the core Services.
Your exact date of birth, gender, and race or ethnicity are not sold or shared with outside parties for their own use. If you turn on public age display, profiles show only the age calculated by JoinLinks, never the birth date. If you separately allow community-reviewer access, reviewers may receive only a derived age band or minimum-age result, never the birth date.
Trusted hosting, security, analytics, and other service providers may process these details only on JoinLinks' behalf under confidentiality and data-protection obligations. You can change your permissions or delete all optional demographic details in Settings without deleting your account. We may retain limited consent and deletion records when necessary to document your choices, comply with law, or protect the Services; those records do not retain the demographic values you cleared.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, collect fees, or enforce policies. Criteria include the nature of the data, why it was collected, and applicable legal requirements. We may de-identify or aggregate data so it no longer identifies you and retain that information indefinitely.
8. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), secure credential storage through Firebase, access controls, logging, rate limiting, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection. Please use unique passwords, keep devices updated, and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
9. Children’s Privacy
JoinLinks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If we learn that a child under 13 (or the applicable minimum age) has provided data, we will take steps to delete the account. Parents or guardians who believe their child has used JoinLinks without permission should contact us at support@joinlinks.co.
10. International Users & Transfers
JoinLinks is headquartered in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or other countries with data protection laws that may differ from those where you reside. We rely on standard contractual clauses, user consent, and other safeguards permitted under applicable law for cross-border transfers.
11. Your Rights & Choices
You may have rights under local law, including to:
- Access, correct, or update personal information in the app or by contacting us.
- Delete your account in settings or request deletion via support@joinlinks.co.
- Change or delete optional demographic details and their related permissions in Settings.
- Opt in or out of JoinLinks marketing emails at any time in Settings or by using an unsubscribe link.
- Opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any text from JoinLinks.
- Withdraw consent for location, contacts, or other device permissions via OS settings.
- For residents of certain regions (e.g., California, EEA, UK, Brazil), exercise rights to data portability, objection, or restriction by emailing us and specifying your jurisdiction.
We may request verification information before fulfilling a rights request. Some data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or feedback. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and, when required, provide additional notice (such as in-app messages or email). Continued use of the Services after the effective date signifies your acceptance of the updated policy.
